Aris is a desk lamp designed around movement and precision. Its adjustable head slides along a wall-mounted rail and locks into position, allowing the light to be repositioned without rewiring, screw-mounting to a desk, or interrupting the workspace.
exploration.
The project began with three concept directions, followed by cardboard models and volume studies to test proportions, attachment methods, and the relationship between the lamp head and its support.
fabrication & assembly.
The final direction was developed through workshop fabrication and material testing, combining aluminum tube, steel rod, 3D-printed components, and a clamping mechanism. The exploded view breaks the lamp into its wall mount, sliding collar, pivot, lamp head, and vertical tube.
outcome.
The 1:1 functional model validates the lamp’s sliding and pivoting system. The final object combines a compact wall-mounted structure with an adjustable light head designed for everyday desk tasks.
